The house on the North West corner of Main and River Streets was built in the summer of 1790 by Benjamin Griffin. Not long after it was built it became the residence of Rev. John Frederick Ernst, a Lutheran Minister. The Ernst family lived there for over 40 years. It is the oldest residence, still standing , in Cooperstown. There have been very few changes made to the house over the years. |
