Barb and Becky Harman swam Otsego lake on August 17th, 2005 in a terrific time of 5 hrs and 18 minutes. Both women finished with the same time. 
     Unusual for a lake swim, the duo began at the north end of the lake a the golf course and swam south to lake front park. They left at 6:42 AM against a south wind. Three miles into the 9 mile swim the wind calmed down but in the last 3 miles they encounter chop and a westerly wind. Typical of the lake to switch wind directions, just ask anyone who bikes the 26 miles around the lake!

     Barb and Becky's names will be added to the Cooperstown Athletic Club  official swim plaque which resides at the Clark Sports Center. 

     The lake is swim is usually attempted in August and measures 9 miles from the Springfield Landing to the Cooperstown Lakefront docks. Anyone interested in making the swim should contact Angus Mackie at angus@rbs2000.com
